General Info
The Modus Files is a fan-created podcast set in Fallout 76’s post-apocalyptic West Virginia. The story focuses on the Enclave – what was once the pre-war shadow government; now America’s best chance at rebuilding.
No, The Modus Files is not affiliated with Bethesda or any of its partner companies. We are a fan-produced project, and this is a labor of love. We operate under Bethesda’s Fan Video Policy, which states that they [Bethesda] “encourage (and are big supporters of) the many fan videos created by our community that use assets from our games – including, but not limited to “Let’s Play” videos, instructional videos demonstrating our modding tools, and fan service tributes using gameplay and music from our games. We are okay with (and encourage) these fan videos being posted on video services like YouTube or on your personal website and/or blogs.“
Project Info
Lawrence McNamara met a fellow Fallout 76er on xBox, who introduced him to his character, Lilith, in 2019. Intrigued by her, Lawrence was motivated to do a quick write-up of a backstory for Lilith – perhaps just a page or so – and then for his own character, Valeria.
Yet a week later, he had written more than twenty pages of backstory for the two women, having found himself suddenly interested in fleshing out the game-world that they existed in. Within a couple of months, he had more than 200 pages of writing; a mini-novel – the beginning of The Modus Files.
Having heard about the CHAD: A Fallout 76 Story podcast, Lawrence reached out to @fchadfallout76, who invited him to participate in his writing group at Apocalyptic Aristocracy. There he found many like-minded writers, with whom he was able to share his work. And with their guidance, The Modus Files transitioned from a mini-novel to a podcast.
